Copy writers must think that consumers are mad these days. The selected ads are my top picks that in some way relate to personal finance. I hope you get as much out of them as I did. The best part is that we can learn what not to do with our money. Enjoy.

1. From a European luxury car manufacturer - "Park this car in your driveway to increase your property value". Wow...I never knew it was that easy. I always knew that pools were a bad investment and windows were close to the best investment you could make in your home.
2. A local cheque cashing shop advertises "at ####### where every day is payday!" and they are right. Its a payday everyday for the company. I cannot believe anybody would use a service that charges the equivalent of 50% annual interest (or more) for the privilege of having your money a few days earlier.
3. A marketing letter from from a major bank writes "transfer your chequing account to us and receive a free gift!" The only place I want to see a free gift is inside my cereal box.
4. From a major mutual fund dealer "we will pay you 1% to buy our mutual funds". Last year's fund performance must have been stellar for this company.
