It could be your dad, your neighbour, or a co-worker. The important thing is to have someone to talk to who is qualified to give you unbiased advice. Who is qualified to give advice? If you see any of these designations behind their name, they are qualified (in no order): CFA, CFP, RFP, CIM, FCSI, and PFP.
